Centre Stand Stopper?

Hi all,

Ever since I rebuilt my GS a couple of years ago, something has been bugging me about the centre stand. When the stand is up (not in use) it touches the metal part which connects the shock and dog bones. Now I am sure this is not right. Am I missing some kind of stopper that limits how high the stand can go?

Probably. There should be a U-shaped bracket with a rubber stop on the exhaust down-pipe just before it joins the silencer. I suspect you are possible not using a standard exhaust system.

Thank you! I feel less stupid now. You are correct, I've got an R6 exhaust...always wondered what that bracket was for when I cut it off!

Yep, we had the same with our first GS, some numpty (present company excepted) had fitted a R6 can and had sawn the downpipe too short. Second one we did the job proper and set the pipe lengths so we could swap the standard silencer back on for a couple of days either side of the MOT.

Numpty here had to use a grip from a cross strenghtener to stop the stand grinding away on the chain lol
