vt 250. the mission 56k bad

hey guys hows all??
last week i got given a vt250 from a guy here in nz that just wanted it gone,
it had been sitting for a few years since it last ran (brokedown )

and a box of spares and 2 spare engines,

i set about first just doing the valve clearances on the engine that was in the bike

but to no avail, so i started stripping down the good spare engine (the original engine that was in the bike)

cams out, immm strange tensioner
.

well thats a black carboned up[ piston (carbon was about 2mm thick)
and the valves wern't much better

so after cleaning up the piston and lapping the valves
she started to look a bit better

its a funny system, in order to get the piston out you need to come at it from the bottom and undo the conrod from the crank,
while i was at it i cleaned up the exhaust port

and painted up the exhaust

i put it all back together and chucked it in the frame (with the help of my girlfriend, much to her disgust, hehe)

the first start up

good aye
i have all the fairings back on now and have cleaned up the chain ect,
i just need to fill her up, pump up the tyres, bleed the brake, and she'll be away laughing,

so $50 for a bike ain't bad (oil, spark plugs, carb cleaner, and degreeser)
