New engine?

Hi All
I have a 1996 gs500e and want to know if I fit a later model engine will I have to mess about with the electrics? Mine is in doc and my mechanic can get hold of one the same as mine and a later model but he said that he would have a lot of messing with them the electrics that is. is this true/.

do a search... this has been aske dso many times....

There are no major differences between a 1989 engine and a 2000 engine. you wont need to change electrics. The only major difference between early and late models are the Tank, seat and plastics. There are a few minor changes. shim on the cams, different width of the drive splines on the final drive sprocket but nothing to prohibit an engine swap..
